An increasing number of individuals may be searching your directory for information relating to sensitive subjects such as domestic abuse. To assist these users, we can implement a “Quick Exit” feature on your directory pages.
Clicking on the “Quick Exit” button will automictically open a new website page (such as BBC Weather or News) and quickly closes the directory tab and clears any history.
You can view an example implementation of this on Trafford’s directory website here:
If you are interested in exploring this for your own directory, please get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org

We’re taking a forward-thinking approach to advising local authorities on what updates need to be made to their existing websites and offering guidance on ensuring accessibility is part of the specification at the beginning of a new build.
- Support you in meeting these new guidelines with a website review
- Provide a detailed report that highlights measures already in place and areas requiring action to comply with WCAG
- Provide recommendations for addressing the findings
In addition to work that may be required to update your website, it is also important that you are aware of your role as content editors on your directory platform. We have put together an accessibility guide which you can access here to help you navigate the new WCAG when editing your content.
